Basic Introduction to Pistol Shooting

Service Description

This course is designed for potential and new gun owners, or those with beginner to intermediate level gun knowledge. This course will strengthen and enhance your overall knowledge pistol usage, operations and safety. This course is highly recommended, though not required, for those with little to no experience with firearms who are considering obtaining a MN carry permit and includes 3- hours of in-person instruction and an hour of range time. Course topics include: -Gun ownership -Firearm safety rules -Safe firearm handling, carrying, and retention techniques -Basic pistol information including types of pistols, -Different types of ammunition -Loading and unloading, cocking and de-cocking and clearing stoppages and malfunctions -Disassembling the firearm -Proper handgun cleaning techniques -Shooting fundamentals including stances and proper techniques to grip and sight the handgun -Safe firearm storage and home safety -Range safety This course is facilitated by an NRA certified instructor but this is NOT an official NRA course and does NOT satisfy the requirements to apply for a MN carry permit. Participants will need: -A firearm for the range portion of this training. This may be a semi-automatic pistol or revolver (whichever you feel most comfortable and competent to shoot with) -A minimum of 50 rounds of range ammo for their chosen gun. (for range only – do not bring to classroom) If the you do not have your own firearm, you will have the option of using either a 9mm or .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol provided by the instructor. There will be an additional charge for gun rental and ammo. Rifles, shotguns and long guns are not permitted to be used for the range portion of the training. Cost: The base cost for the course is $70 which includes classroom instruction, materials, range time, eye wear, hearing protection and targets. You will be charged the base cost for the training as a deposit when you register if you require a firearm and ammo you can pay the remaining $25 via a payment option below no later than one week prior to your scheduled training date.
