***In accordance with COVID protocols and public safety, class space will continue to be limited*** This course meets the MN training requirements needed to apply for or renew a Minnesota Permit to Carry. The course consists of roughly 3 hours of in-person instruction and up to one hour of range time, during which you will complete your shooting test. The contents of this course will include: -Basic gun safety -Safe firearm handling practices -Identify the principal parts of a pistol and types of actions and demonstrate how they function -Basic types of handguns and ammo -How to properly clean a firearm -MN law related to legally carrying a firearm -How to legally transport and carry a firearm -How to interact with law enforcement when carrying -Situational awareness and conflict avoidance techniques -Legal responsibilities & liabilities of using deadly force -How to properly and safely store their firearm -Range commands and protocol -Shooting proficiency Participants will need: -A firearm to complete the shooting proficiency test. This may be a semi-automatic pistol or revolver (whichever you feel most comfortable and competent to shoot with) -A minimum of 50 rounds of range ammo for their chosen gun. (for range only – do not bring to classroom) If the you do not have your own firearm, you will have the option of using either a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol provided by the instructor. There will be an additional charge for gun rental and ammo. Rifles, shotguns and long guns are not permitted to be used for the range portion of the training. Cost: The base cost for the course is $75 which includes classroom instruction, materials, range time, eye wear, hearing protection and targets. You will be charged the base cost for the training as a deposit when you register. If you require a firearm and ammo you can pay the remaining $20 via a payment option below no later than one week prior to your scheduled training date. If you do not need to rent a firearm, you can pay the $75 deposit which would cover the full course cost. The course deposit and fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.
